As of Saturday, Feb. 6, El Paso County is at "Level Yellow" COVID-19 protections. The Zoo is currently operating under a revised Public Health Order from Colorado Public Health & Environment that allows us to open some buildings at limited capacity.
The following changes will be seen during daytime visits to the Zoo while under Level Yellow precautions:

  • Ticket capacity to the Zoo will remain limited, with advance timed tickets required. Tickets will be released on a weekly basis; see schedule below.
  • The outdoor areas of the Zoo will remain open, but some buildings will be closed. Viewing of the following animals/exhibits may be impacted by these closures, when the weather does not allow the animals to be outside:
    - Wallabies (viewing available through windows)

The following buildings will be open at limited capacity:
    - Giraffe barn (In order to accommodate the maximum number of guests with our limited building capacity, your time in the giraffe building may be limited.)
    - Elephant/rhino barn
    - Budgie Buddies
    - Scutes Family Gallery
    - The Loft
    - Hippo and penguin* building
    - Primate World
*The African penguin building will be closed, and penguins and pelicans will not be visible to guests, as of Monday, Feb. 22 for remodeling. The closure is expected to last approximately four to six weeks.
  • All restaurants are open, with limited menus and spaced seating, both inside and outside as available. Take out is also available.
  • Thundergod Gift Shop will be open at limited capacity, per current guidelines for retail establishments. Online ordering is also available at giftshop.cmzoo.org.
  • Sky Ride will be operational on weekends only, weather dependent. Only members of the same household are permitted per seat.
  • The Carousel is temporarily closed during these restrictions.
  • Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun is open with limitations.

Purchase your advance timed e-tickets to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! You must enter the Zoo during the time listed on your ticket.

  • Zoo guests are required to wear masks when inside any buildings, due to the mandate by the state of Colorado. We also strongly encourage wearing a mask when within 6 feet of other households in outdoor areas. Our staff is wearing masks, and so should you! Check out this fun "animals vs. masks" video before your visit!
  • Read what else to expect during your visit HERE.
  • Timed advance e-tickets are required. This includes children ages 2 and under.
  • Select the time above as your 20-minute window to enter the Zoo. Once inside the Zoo, you may stay as long as you like, within our operating hours.
  • Please be in line to enter the Zoo within 20 minutes of your ticketed start time. Early arrivals or arrivals later than 20 minutes past your ticketed entry time may not be accommodated. If you arrive early for your time slot, please wait in your car until your entry time begins. Arriving during your designated arrival time will help us manage traffic flow into our parking lot and through the admission gates.
  • ATTENTION MEMBERS: If free member tickets for your chosen day/time are not available, you are welcome to purchase non-member tickets, but they will not be covered as free under your membership. You will be purchasing them at the non-member price.

  • You are reserving daytime Zoo admission e-tickets, valid ONLY for the date and the 20-minute window starting at the time listed on the e-ticket.
  • REFUND POLICY: No refunds or exchanges. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is an all-weather venue, and is open 365 days a year, regardless of weather. No refunds or exchanges will be given for inclement weather or any other reason.
