As of Saturday, Feb. 6, El Paso County is at "Level Yellow" COVID-19 protections. The Zoo is currently operating under a revised Public Health Order from Colorado Public Health & Environment that allows us to open some buildings at limited capacity.
The following changes will be seen during daytime visits to the Zoo while under Level Yellow precautions:

  • Ticket capacity to the Zoo will remain limited, with advance timed tickets required. Tickets will be released on a weekly basis; see schedule below.
  • The outdoor areas of the Zoo will remain open, but some buildings will be closed. Viewing of the following animals/exhibits may be impacted by these closures, when the weather does not allow the animals to be outside:
    - Wallabies (viewing available through windows)
  • The following buildings will be open at limited capacity:

    - Giraffe barn (In order to accommodate the maximum number of guests with our limited building capacity, your time in the giraffe building may be limited.)
    - Elephant/rhino barn
    - Budgie Buddies
    - Scutes Family Gallery
    - The Loft
    - Hippo and penguin* building
    - Primate World

*The African penguin building will be closed, and penguins and pelicans will not be visible to guests, as of Monday, Feb. 22 for remodeling. The closure is expected to last approximately four to six weeks.

  • All restaurants are open, with limited menus and spaced seating, both inside and outside as available. Take out is also available.
  • Thundergod Gift Shop will be open at limited capacity, per current guidelines for retail establishments. Online ordering is also available at giftshop.cmzoo.org.
  • Sky Ride will be operational on weekends only, weather dependent. Only members of the same household are permitted per seat.
  • The Carousel is temporarily closed during these restrictions.
  • Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun is open with limitations.

MEMBERS - Reserve your FREE member timed e-tickets to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo! We want everyone to get a chance to visit the Zoo. Please consider limiting the number of reservations you make during this time to ensure all members have an equal chance to visit.

- Non-member tickets must be purchased on the non-member admission page, found here.

Zoo guests are required to wear masks when inside any buildings, due to the mandate by the state of Colorado. We also strongly encourage wearing a mask when within 6 feet of other households in outdoor areas. Our staff is wearing masks, and so should you! Check out this fun "animals vs. masks" video before your visit!

Read what else to expect during your visit HERE.

All guests must reserve tickets in advance online, including members. Use the instructions below to ensure a smooth process. Before you can reserve timed member tickets, you must have a login and password with the Zoo’s ticket portal.

STEP ONE: Sign-in here, or register on our website.

STEP TWO: Check that your registration is correctly linked to your membership after registration.

>> STEP ONE: REGISTER ON OUR WEBSITE (www.cmzoo.org/register)

  1. - If you are a new member, register at the same time as your membership purchase to ensure your login links to your new membership.
    - If you are an existing member, use the information on your membership card and/or member Welcome Email to ensure the registration does not create an empty duplicate account.
  2. You will know that you registered successfully when you receive a registration email. If you receive a registration processing error, you have already registered that email. We recommend the ‘password reset’ found in the log-in pop-up.
  1. Once registered, it is important to check whether or not your registration linked correctly to your membership and/or that your membership is active.
  2. Make sure you are logged in (you will know you are logged in if you see your email surrounded by an orange box in the top-right corner of the webpage). Navigate to the member reservations page to choose a date and time for your visit and scroll to the bottom of the page.
  3. - If you cannot see the option to add member tickets to your cart at the bottom of the page, your membership is either expired or not correctly linked to your login. This can be fixed by the Membership Department at membership@cmzoo.org.
    - If you are able to add member tickets to your cart (you will need to add the number of tickets needed next to the ticket type and click ‘add to cart’), then you are all set to reserve tickets for your visit!
  • Non-member guests must purchase non-member tickets: be sure to check both member and non-member ticket availabilities first, as timed tickets vary and cannot be changed once reserved/purchased. Non-member tickets can be added from the non-member reservation page using the same process as member reservations. Payment will be collected on the last page. Non-members without admission tickets will not be granted entry to the Zoo.
  • Individual Plus members with a child under three: purchase your tickets (you + one), and then purchase the non-member 75¢ age 2 & under ticket separately to ensure a smooth entry.
  • Be in line to enter the Zoo within the 20 minute time-slot of your reservation. Early or late arrivals, outside of your ticketed entry time, may not be accommodated. If you arrive early for your time slot, please wait in your car until your entry time begins. Arriving during your designated arrival time will help us manage traffic flow into our parking lot and through the admission gates.
  • Member e-tickets are limited and not guaranteed. If tickets are not available for your desired time/date, please note memberships are non-refundable after purchase. We appreciate your flexibility in choosing a different date/time for your visit!
  • Any member discounts will be applied in the final shopping cart. You must be logged in, and add the number of tickets you need to your cart, for your tickets to show up as free.
  • ATTENTION MEMBERS: E-tickets are limited and not guaranteed. If tickets are not available for your desired time/date, please note memberships are non-refundable after purchase. We appreciate your flexibility in choosing a different date/time for your visit! If you choose to purchase non-member tickets, please note they will not be covered as free under your membership and we will not be able to refund them.

When does your Membership expire? Contact membership@cmzoo.org for details.

  • If you attempt to register, but there is a system error, you have already registered that email address. We suggest trying the password reset.
  • If you see a ticket price for your member tickets, your tickets will zero out in the cart if you are signed in as a member. You must add the number of tickets you need to your cart in order to reserve them.
  • If this error appears: "The number of tickets exceeds the amount available for this event," - there aren't enough tickets in the time slot you've chosen to cover your entire party. *We suggest trying a different time slot entirely, or (if possible) splitting your group into smaller groups and reserving consecutive time slots. Because you have 19 minutes to check-in, timing it so your group enters around the same time should be fairly easy.
  • If you register but are being prompted to purchase a membership, you have created a duplicate OR your membership has expired. Contact membership@cmzoo.org and We will reply to you as soon as we can!
  • If you forgot your password - click the SIGN-IN button below and choose the ‘forgot my password’ option. Enter your registered email to get a link to reset your password.
  • If you do not receive a reset email - you may not have registered online. You must register HERE before reserving your tickets to receive your discount.
